Battery Waste EPR Registration

Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change notified Battery Waste Management (BWM) Rules on 22nd August, 2022 as per which every Producer and Recycler  shall have to register with CPCB.

Producers are required to fulfill their EPR obligation by ensuring that waste battery is recycled through certified waste battery Recyclers to meet assigned EPR targets. They shall obtain EPR certificates from recyclers according to the quantity of waste batteries recycled by recyclers and use such certificates to meet their EPR targets.

EPR Registration: Process, Fee and Documents

EPR Registration: Producer

The process of filing the application starts with signing up by Producers (Manufacturers, Importer) on the web portal www.eprbatterycpcb.in followed by filling of the application in 6 parts namely

  1. General information of Producer
  2. Information on the Type of Battery
  3. Addition of Sales Data
  4. Addition of Battery Material
  5. Uploading of required Documents
  6. Payment of Fees

Producers have to ensure that Annual Returns are filed by June 30th of the following year (as per Rules) for the intervening Registration period.

EPR Registration: Recycler

The process of filing the application starts with signing up by Recycler on the online portal www.eprbatterycpcb.in followed by filling of the application in 6 parts namely

  1. General Details
  2. Information on Battery
  3. Documents
  4. Geo Images
  5. Recycling Capacity
  6. Payment of Fees

Fee : Producer

The producer shall pay the application fees as per the details given below along with the application for Registration:

< 5 Cr Annual Turnover : ₹ 10000/-

5 – 50 Cr Annual Turnover : ₹ 20000/-

> 50 Cr Annual Turnover : ₹ 40000/-

Fee : Recycler

The producer shall pay the application fees as per the details given below along with the application for Registration:

< 1000 TPA Recycling Capacity  : ₹ 10000/-

1000-5000 TPA Recycling Capacity  : ₹ 20000/-

> 5000 TPA Recycling Capacity  : ₹ 40000/-

Documents Required : Producer

  1. Company GST Certificate
  2. PAN Card of the company
  3. Corporate Identification Number (CIN)
  4. Consent and Authorization Issued by State Board
  5. IEC (in case of importers)
  6. DIC (if the unit is registered with DIC)

Documents Required : Recycler

  1. Company GST Certificate
  2. PAN Card of the company
  3. Process Flow Diagram of the recycling process
  4. Consent and Authorization Issued by State Board
  5. DIC Certificate
  6. Pictures and Video of Industrial Unit/Equipments
